About Us

Our Mission

To bring quality theater experiences to the Washington Island community through performances and programs for adults and schoolchildren alike.

25 Years Serving the Island Community

Since 1984, Island Players has served Washington Island as a non-profit community theater, the smallest one of its kind in Wisconsin. Over those twenty-five years, the Players have produced full-length plays and musical productions, sponsored workshops and informal play readings, and have provided a variety of activities for youth, including a summer acting camp and programs in the public school. Island Players productions have achieved both placement and individual awards in events sponsored by the American Association of Community Theaters.

Through its various productions and programs, presented in many different venues - Karly’s, The Trueblood Performing Arts Center, The Red Barn, Trinity Lutheran Church, The Washington Hotel - and others in Sturgeon Bay, Madison, and Chicago, Island Players has given performance opportunities to hundreds of participants while providing entertainment for audiences which now number in the thousands. We regularly reach a majority of the Island’s population, both year-round and summer residents, as well as visitors to the island.
